Communication and meeting points

Power banks, radio, offline maps and a family plan.

Guide · 1 min read

When networks are busy, short messages go through more easily than calls. A paper list and a meeting place do not need battery.

It is happening now

In Sakeena you can tick each step and see your progress. It stays on your device. Open it as a checklist

Do now

  • Write emergency numbers and key family numbers on paper and keep a copy in each bag.
  • Download offline maps of your area and the route to your family meeting place.
  • Agree three meeting points: inside the home, near the home (such as the front gate or the park) and outside the area. Choose one contact person who lives in another city.

Do within 15 minutes

  • Send a short message to your contact person: where you are and that you are safe.
  • Turn on a battery radio or follow official channels for instructions.

Do in the first day

  • Use the phone in short bursts. Keep one phone fully charged for emergencies.
  • Do not forward unverified messages. Rely on your civil defence and national authority channels.

Do daily

  • Check in with family at agreed times, for example morning and evening.
  • Teach children their full name, parents' numbers and the meeting points.
